An oldie but goodie has been reworked:
"Now we're going to have to pin everything on Romney from the recent spate of public shootings to ... Madonna not going into retirement!"
"And for god sakes, go tell the campaign shrink to notify Biden."

Waiting for a Ruling
While we wait for the Supreme Court to render their ruling on Obamacare, let's take a moment to discuss a fantastic legal organization. The ACLJ's mission is to protect religious and constitutional freedoms:
Today the ACLJ celebrates Chief Counsel Jay Sekulow's first Supreme Court win 25 years ago. Since then, there have been many victories.
Take a minute and look at their website. Consider joining their email list. You can get updates on Pro-life/Abortion, Israel & the Middle East, Freedom of Speech, Religious Freedom, Radical Islam & National Security, Marriage & Family Values.
Also, depending on where you live, you might be able to catch Jay Sekulow on the radio. You can also listen through their website. More than once has he taken a call about homeschool issues and referred to cases they are currently litigating.
Go visit their site. You will not be disappointed - unless you're a raving liberal, in which case, read some and get educated.

Founded in 1990 with the mandate to protect religious and constitutional freedoms, the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) engages legal, legislative, and cultural issues by implementing an effective strategy of advocacy, education, and litigation that includes representing clients before the Supreme Court of the United States and international tribunals around the globe.

I Smell Spin
Secretary of Commerce John Bryson was allegedly involved in two hit-and-runs over the weekend. In the first one, he crashed into the car in front of him, got out and talked with the three men in the car he hit, then fled the scene without giving any information - hitting their car again as he escaped. Read about it here.
He then proceeded to hit another car. He then passed out. Had he not needed hospitalization at that point, he would have been arrested.
The story coming from the Department of Commerce is that Bryson suffered a seizure, which caused the crash.
While that might be, I find it difficult to believe he could exit his vehicle, have a conversation with the men whose vehicle he hit, and then manage to flee the scene. This does not sound like a seizure. This sounds like a character flaw.
Do we need to discuss character flaws in the Obama Administration?
Didn't think so.

US Commerce Secretary Charged
The US Commerce Secretary allegedly committed several hit and run crashes in Los Angeles on Saturday.
"He was cited for felony hit and run but was not booked into jail because he had been admitted to the hospital. His condition was not known."
Take a look at the article.
I feel confused, bewildered. This does not corroborate with what we assume about Democrats and Republicans. Why would the Democrat Commerce Secretary John Bryson, who apparently is a "fierce proponent of alternative energy" commit crimes in a gas-guzzler and fail to stay at the scene?
I thought only Republicans were supposed to be utterly callous and convinced of their holier-than-thou status.
We hope Secretary Bryson has a full recovery.
And can be booked.

This Is Why We Have Mommy Wars
I was at a function the other day and sat next to a mother who works full time outside the home. As we were chatting, she shared this nugget:
"When my kids were younger, I scheduled a camp every single week during the summer for them. My husband was home, but I couldn't imagine expecting him to do the childcare."
Did you catch that? The childcare.
I just stared at her. She obviously thought she insulted me and proceeded to give me the full palm "stop" hand gesture and rushed to say, "I completely respect what you do and know you do the most important job, I just couldn't do it."
Now, here's the thing. She did not insult me. She stunned me, but did not insult me.
My first gut-emotion when she called being home with the kids "childcare" was sadness. I feel desperately sad for her and her children. First, those kids do not get to lay around and rest during the summer. They go-go-go through the school year and then hit the summer, only to go-go-go some more. When do they rest? When do they have a chance to get bored and learn to expand their imaginations? When do they get to just "be?" It is hard to "be" when you have a constant schedule. When do they get to sleep as long as they want? When do they get to set up a tent in the backyard or stay up all night with a flashlight and a book? When do they have... summer?
Mostly, I feel sad that this woman honestly does not know the joy of sitting around with her kids and just "being." Has she ever sat on the couch with the kids and laughed at Spongebob for a couple hours? That's kinda hard when you're working 60+ hours a week and have the kids in camps all summer. Does she know the deep satisfaction of a child curling up in her lap and not having to be anywhere but in that moment - for as long as that moment might last? Has she ever gotten up in the middle of the night with a sick child and been thankful to God that she did not have to be anywhere in the morning, but could nurse her sick one through the night?
As she talked and backpedaled, I added up how much all those camps cost for a couple kids. They probably spend several thousand dollars by the end of the summer. Even if I wanted to put my kids in a camp each week, we just do not have the money.
We are a one-income household. My husband works full time, but I am not bringing in any money. Being home is not a simple "luxury." It is a sacrifice. Our cars are 8 years old. I do not have a lot of new clothes. My kids do not have multiple pairs of shoes. We live on a budget that requires me to cook from scratch for most meals.
Whether a woman chooses to work outside the home or not is immaterial to me. How she chooses to view either side of the equation is. What struck me most was her use of the word "childcare." When I spoke with my husband about the encounter, he responded with "doesn't she mean child-raising?"
The Mommy Wars do not continue to rage because women have to work, but because some women refuse to see that raising one's own children is not a lesser-than activity. The mindset that spending time with the kids, getting creative in how to spend that time, is not menial work for the under-educated, but noble work. Her Freudian Slip gave me a glimpse into her mindset that made me feel sad for her and her kids.
And she thought she insulted me.

Word Association
Let's play a game of word association. Watch the following video about this story and tell me what words come to mind.
And... go!
Here, I'll help you:
Cognitive dissonance: This man told a judge he would stop making babies, yet he fathered NINE more babies in three years. Take a break, buddy.
Vasectomy: Dude, if you can't keep it in your pants and (obviously) eschew the use of condoms, try snipping the cords to the baby-maker. Try it. You might like the freedom.
Responsibility: Catch a clue. You have THIRTY children and yet you have only one job, and clearly have time to hook up with more Baby Mamas. Try getting more work. It'll keep you busier - and maybe slightly too tired to make more babies.
And Tennessee Ladies: Please take note of this man's face. Do NOT assume he's shooting blanks. Unless you want only $1.50 a month to support your baby, this man is a bad bet.
Did I miss any?

Enough with the Class Warfare!
Sadly, Carrie Bradshaw Sarah Jessica Parker has gotten into the swing of carrying the bully stick. I am so beyond sick of the class warfare cry. Frankly, I prefer the Jon Lovitz style of addressing class warfare. He was also Hannity last night and said something fantastic.
Yeah, I'm video clip happy right now. Deal.

Will the Fat Tax Make Us Healthy?
Fat Tax. An extra percentage of money attached to your twinkies, ho hos and soda pop. Raise your hand if you are appalled at the thought of the government being involved in your midnight binges in front of Nick at Night. After you calm down, go get yourself a mocha latte and think about it this way. That extra money (pennies really) could be a key player in the war against becoming China's bitch. If that tax money is collected and applied to our national debt we could begin to change the dynamics of our economic policy.
Think of all the junk food you as an individual or family buy. Yes - all that fast food, junk food, soda, and crap is making us one fat nation. But do you think people are going to stop buying all of it just because there is a fat tax on it? It is all about personal responsibility - and that responsibility is not affected by pennies. It is affected by emotional attachments to food. Just like the cigarette and alcohol taxes, the fat tax will just be added in to the dollar amount and not even considered as government interference. People may grumble and shake their fists, but they will still buy their twinkies. People will still go to McDonalds. People will not suddenly become slim and healthy because their happy food is taxed.
Ok Liberatarians - what are your thoughts?

Too Far or Not Far Enough?
Watch the following video, produced by Susan B. Anthony List, and tell me if you think it goes too far:
I gotta tell ya, after getting into a conversation with a liberal who told me I couldn't possibly be pro-life because I am a woman, this video does not go too far. Since when do all women have to think alike? Yes, I have a vagina and yes, I am a mother, but that does not mean I am pro-choice and vote Democrat (tuh-tuh).
So tell me. Does this video go to far for you? Does it not go far enough? Why?
Whatcha think?

My Money Goes Where? Gimme a Refund!
When I think of my tax dollars I like to envision the great American things
that are being done with it... libraries, roads, ammo for our kick ass military.
What I don't picture is the millions of dollars being sucked out of our budget
and paid directly to the pockets of our ex-presidents. Now, I don't begrudge the
former presidents'(or their widows) their social security or their medicare.
Everyone (at this point and time) is eligible for those programs when they
become of age. I don't mind the cost of the Secret Service either. We want them
protected. What I have a problem with is the amount of money budgeted every year
for phone calls, office staff, travel, office space, postage, and other
miscellaneous overhead that should be paid out of their own (rich) pockets - not
my (poor) ones.
Don't go thinking I am picking on the Democrats - the Republicans are just
as bad. George W is at the top of the list with his request for 1.3 million
dollars for 2013. His daddy? He wants $879,000. Clinton requests a smooth Mil
for his overhead. And even Jimmy Carter wants his share... at the cost of
$500,000.
We owe all this to the Former President's Act of 1958. That sweet deal was
brokered so that our Presidents would be taken care of. Hmm. I thought that's
what their pensions were for? Who knew we would be paying for staples, postage
and paperclips forever. (Mrs. Reagan do you really need 7 grand for
postage?).
Don't like it? Utah is spearheading a campaign in Congress to stop our tax
dollars from funding these items. But only if the president makes over $400,000
a year. Not ideal, but hey - it's better than just shooting our tax dollars
directly to the Office Depot.

If You Have the Time - This is Worth Watching
Jonah Goldberg sits down with Ginni Thomas for an insightful and educational interview. He answers the following questions:
*If you were in the establishment media, what questions might you ask President Obama?
*Tell us about your new book Discuss the emergence of the “No Labels” crowd.
*Give us a 30,000 feet up perspective on American politics in 2012.
*Discuss the left’s perspective on American exceptionalism.
*Are the tactics of the left hardening and getting more extreme, uncivil?
*What gives you hope?
*Discuss the president’s “fairness” rhetoric and how it divides Americans?
*Wasn’t electing America’s first black president a milestone to celebrate in America?

Our Battle Is Not New
A friend sent this mid-20th century to me through YouTube and it seems like a good one to share:
Notice the final lines:
"When anybody preaches disunity, tries to pit one of us against the other through class warfare or race hatred or religious intolerance, you know that person seeks to rob us of our freedom and destroy our very lives... Working together to produce an ever greater abundance of material and spiritual values for all - that is the secret of American prosperity."
Food for thought, yes?

Jumping in a Little Late
I am not a Romney fan. There. I said it. He's too slick and too ... too for me. While it has been proven his attack team might very well be able to match Axelrod's level of conniving sleaze, Romney simply does not excite me as a candidate. Simply put: I think he's moved to the Right for the election cycle when he's really a moderate on par with John McCain. Moderate Republicans do not win the White House.
As for Newt. Well. Dear Newt. I very much enjoy him in debates, but he seems rather undisciplined. He flings pins all over the map and gets a little lost periodically. For instance, the Bain debacle - challenging the free market - made me wonder what on earth he was thinking.
Ron Paul has not a chance, but he will stick it out until the convention. He self-appointed task to encourage discussion has brought in the moderate youth who are no longer enamored of President Obama. What happens to their votes when Paul fails to win the nomination?
I like Santorum. He is the only Conservative candidate on the GOP stage. Santorum, however, lacks flash and the pizzazz needed to win the nomination.
It's early. I need coffee. If you are out there, please post some comments and tell me what you think about the candidates.

If You Take Away a Mom's Office
If You Take Away a Mom's Office
If you take away a mom's office and give it to her son for a bedroom, she will need a place for all her stuff.
She will look around and realize the only place to put her bookcase and all the bills is her bedroom.
When her husband and son move all her stuff into the master bedroom, she will look at it with growing dismay and realize looking at bills before bedtime wrecks the sanctuary feel of her room. She will decide she must reclaim the kitchen desk that was surrendered to the children as a spot for crafts and computing. Alas, if she reclaims the kitchen desk, she will have to relocate all the kid crafting and project parts.
Her eyes will fall on the pantry and she will decide the children may use the bottom of the pantry for their paints, glues, pipe cleaners, mod podge, and colors. The pantry will require reorganizing to make room. To make room, the Mom will need to take cooking vessels and party trays from the pantry and put them in the kitchen. To put them in the kitchen, she will have to make room, which means reorganizing the kitchen cupboards.
The Mom will throw out cracked sippies and unloved storage tops to spruce up her kitchen and pantry. She might even make ice cream in the much-wanted, and then forgotten, ice cream maker. When she finally gets the kitchen reassembled and the pantry just-so, she will start the process of placing the kid craft cabinet contents into the bottom of the pantry. Doing so will make her remember why she gave the kids the craft cabinet in the first place: Visibility. From multiple vantage points, the Mom can see Little One grab the finger paints before church or Middle One snag wiggle eyes for his backpack and Big Kid attempt to walk off with the roll of butcher paper.
She will realize sacrificing the kitchen desk to the children actually helps maintain her sanity and some sense of cleanliness in her home. She will promptly move the kid paraphernalia back into the kitchen desk, and revel in her pristine pantry. She will decide maybe the bills can stay in her room because to bring them out in the kitchen would create more chaos that saving her bedtime sanctuary is worth. Maybe she will use some fabric from the craft cabinet to fashion a curtain to cover bookcase shelf holding the files and bills. The mom will sigh and wistfully think she really needs an office.

Drip... Drip... GUSH!
The kitchen faucet is dripping.
No, that is not a metaphor for our financial disaster created by Washington.
MY kitchen faucet is dripping. Drip. Drip. Drip.
If I lift the lever and turn off the faucet right in the middle, the drip stops.
Confession? It has dripped long enough that even the kids know how to stop the drip. Darling... um... kinda.
Not only is the faucet dripping, but the plumbing under the sink is dripping. Specifically, it drips when the disposal runs. The disposal seems to be perpetually clogged. I noticed the drip when taking out the garbage. The drip/gush under the sink appears to be coming from the U-bend connections.
So. What's a Girl to do?
I could turn off the water and try to figure it out. Excuse me, I could try to figure it out and then turn off the water and fix it.
Or, I could use my home warranty and spend $50 on the deductible and have a plumber come out and fix both problems.
I could do it myself for, what, $10? That leaves me $40 for groceries or kid clothes or to transfer into savings.
What would you do?

Need a Letter to Adequately Express Your Outrage?
Better yet, do you know any liberals who need help expressing their outrage? Check out this link and click the "Outrage Generator."
Just for kicks, I will fill out my own letter and post it here. Then, you do the same in the comment section and we can giggle self-righteously to ourselves.
Here's my letter:
To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing today to shriek my utter OFFENSE over the fact that anyone dared to momentarily think the dreaded K-Word.
You see, I am inordinately proud of my ethnicity – and why shouldn't I be? It took incredible skill and hard work on my part to be conceived – not to mention all the determination it took me to master blinking. That's why pride in my ethnicity constitutes my entire one-dimensional identity – and for that I deserve automatic and constant validation.
Now, I'm a supporter of free speech and all, but when it isn't gushingly positive about people to whom I condescend for cheap political points, then it's time for draconian censorship!
Furthermore, as a member of the esteemed International Society of the Ancestrally Fixated, it is my pleasure to remind you that only WE are allowed to use the K-Word – as a proud expression of our resilience.
You know, growing up Jedi in my overly tolerant hippie commune, it didn't take long to realize that the problem with today's world is that people who are different from me are too criminally self-absorbed to fixate entirely on MY feelings. And that's why when those people used the K-Word, I felt I'd been personally smacked, and as such hereby formally demand their public exectution.
Yours Truly,
G
PS: I won't be surprised if you ignore me. That's just the kind of treatment I'd expect from a typical sneaky cracker like YOU!
Fun, right? Go make yours and report your findings. :-)

Racing to Amen
You might remember Little One asking to "brave." We have changed how we pray nightly. We have transitioned into praying the Lord's Prayer at the end of our nightly prayers.
Now Little One asks to "brave" with her brothers. This has turned into gathering in the boys' room where we all pray the Lord's Prayer together.
The only thing is Middle One races... races... to the end. The kid cannot wait to say "Amen." He says it with a flourish-y shake of his head and then grins to himself.
Oh, to be God and know what that kid is thinking.
